Basin Bridge March (6 Trombones + Drum Set)
Premiered at the 2017 Midwest International Band & Orchestra Clinic
In 2016, I visited Louisiana from the first time. While visiting the state, we drove across the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. I was amazed at the sights and the bridge (I had never seen swampland before). The Atchafalaya bridge is approx. 18 miles long and is the 3rd longest bridge in the United States. During this trip, we were researching Henry Fillmore. We actually visited his Fillmore's tomb in Miami, Ohio.
While driving across the bridge, I was inspired to write a march in the style of Henry Fillmore. The piece was played by the trombone section of the Fillmore Wind Band (now the Cincinnati Wind Band) at the 2017 Midwest Clinic.
